What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at Pulmonary Practice?
The Medical Assistant performs both clinical and administrative duties. The Medical Assistant supports patient care by taking medical histories and recording vital signs of patients as well as administrative duties. We need someone who has good communication skills with patients and other staff. Billingual english and spanish is a plus!
We are a busy Pulmonary Practice with over 30 years in practice. We are looking for a fast learner, who has recent EMR experience, who is pleasant and a team player. Someone who understands the medical field and terminology who also can type quickly and can problem solve.
Position Key Accountabilities:
1. Performs responsibilities in a manner that promotes quality patient care and customer service/satisfaction.
2. Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned which may include scan patient medical records; obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information; completing forms/requisitions as needed.
3. Answers telephones and schedule appointments.
4. Effectively participates in planning and preparing for patient visits ensuring appropriate schedules, test results, and clinic specific requirements are available.
5. Performs routine patient care responsibilities such as taking vital signs and obtaining medical records. Keeps patients informed of delays and progress of clinical appointments.
6. Prepares and stocks rooms (daily/weekly) and clinic supplies in advance of clinic visit as well as cleaning rooms appropriately between patients.
7. Schedules patients for follow up appointments or referrals and performs routine clerical duties for team and staff to include photocopying, scanning, and faxing.
8. Performs telephone messaging and in person screening with appropriate follow up.
9. Self-directed with good organizational skill.
10. Communicates and works well within a collaborative team environment.
11. Respects and maintains privacy and confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.
12. Performs other duties as assigned, from start to finish.
13. Administers biologic injections, and flu and pna vaccines, also PPD testing if needing. Allergy testing and weight loss injections
14. This job is 80% clerical and 20% clinical.
15. Excellent attendance is required.

- Travel to another clinic on in kingwood. Less than 7 mins away.
- Greet patients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner
- schedule appointments, and manage patient inquiries
- Verify patient information, insurance coverage, and collect necessary payments
- Maintain patient records and ensure accuracy of all documentation
- Coordinate with medical staff to ensure efficient flow of patients
- Provide administrative support such as filing, faxing, and scanning documents
- Follow HIPAA guidelines to maintain patient confidentiality
- Assist with medical scheduling and coordination of referrals-checking email
- Handle any emergencies or urgent situations with composure and efficiency

The ideal candidate for this position will have:
- Previous experience working as a Medical Assistant or in a similar role
- Knowledge of medical administrative procedures and terminology
- Familiarity with office operations is a plus
- Proficiency in using phone systems and other office equipment
- Strong computer skills, including experience with electronic medical records systems

Salary postion: 86.67 hours paid twice a month on the 1st and 15th.
