Punahou's Junior School Summer Programs are actively recruiting grades 1-5 Assistant Teachers. The Assistant Teacher collaborates with Extended Program Instructors to implement curriculum based instruction and activities for students enrolled in the early session Nahiku Adventure Camp. They work in partnership with Extended Program Instructors, Manager of Extended Programs, and the Director of Extended Learning to ensure that students are safely engaged in age appropriate activities.
Position Details:
- Work Year: 1.5 Months
- School Year: Summer School 2025, June - July 2025 Dates may vary depending on the course
- Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM, Hours may vary depending on enrollment
- Based on an hourly rate of: $32.24
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One (1) year of experience supervising students in an elementary school setting.
- Knowledge of subject areas, grade-level curriculum and content.
- Demonstrated familiarity with curriculum, teaching methods and assessment frameworks in the subjects and age ranges; and age-related expectations of students.
- Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds; an understanding of the developmental needs of young children, sensitivity to each individual student’s needs; and ability to appreciate the variety of perspectives offered by individual viewpoints, disciplines and cultural understandings.
