What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chief Engineer position at Punderson Manor Lodge?
Punderson Manor Lodge is seeking candidates for a Chief Engineer responsible for leading the day to day operation of the facility and shift coverage. This includes guest rooms, meeting spaces, boilers and chillers, kitchens, laundry, building exterior and cabins.
The candidate must have 3 to 5 years hands on experience with preferred 2 year technical training certificate in HVAC systems, mechanical equipment repairs, building automation and energy management. Hospitality industry experience a plus. Must possess a Valid Driver's License.
Salary Range: Depending on skills & experience
Responsibilities:
- This position requires strong leadership skills and a willingness to work different shifts depending on business needs. Good communication skills are necessary across all hotel departments.
- Coordinates and assigns the daily activities of all department personnel
- Troubleshoots and repairs malfunctions in mechanical or electrical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, and other equipment throughout the hotel.
- Performs preventative maintenance assignments on a scheduled basis
- Services the hotel’s pool, including adjusting chemicals and cleaning filters, completing maintenance request forms and record logs.
- Supervises maintenance of the building exterior and curb appeal for snow removal, lawn care, painting, and other gardening.
- Develop associate skills through training while ensuring safety programs are effective and compliant with corporate standards, OSHA and other regulations. Oversee workflow quality for 6 to 8 associates daily.
- Schedule and manage third party contractors to ensure building systems compliance along with various other equipment repairs, projects, renovations and capital replacements.
- Strong organizational skills required for maintaining critical spare parts inventory, purchasing supplies for the department and submitting capital planning requests.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
Qualifications:
- Must have 3-5 years maintenance experience, with 2 years direct maintenance supervisory experience.
- Must be skilled in HVAC, boilers, electrical, carpentry, dry walling, painting, plumbing, roofing, and landscaping
- Must be able to troubleshoot and repair routine mechanical and electrical malfunctions in hotel systems and equipment.
- Must be willing and able to be responsive to complaints about maintenance and be willing and able to “pitch in” and help co-workers with their job duties and be a team player.
- Considerable knowledge of mathematical skills necessary to interpret electrical, mechanical and building systems.
- Considerable knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems with the ability to analyze their design and intent and performance.
- Considerable knowledge of construction and building systems
Physical & Environmental Demands:
- Must be able to bend, reach, kneel, twist and grip items while working in assigned area.
- Manual dexterity and coordination to perform all job duties including lifting, moving heavy loads, be on feet for long periods of time, etc.
- Work in cold & hot temperatures, indoors & outdoors.
- Ability to perform duties in confined space and in awkward positions.
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing between 20 and 60 pounds per day.
