Description: The HPS Extended School Year (ESY) Program is for students in grades PK- 12 who qualify for extended year services per their IEP’s. The goal of the program is to prevent regression of learned and/or progressing skills during the Summer months. Locations are at Kelly School (Preschool, K-2 ABL/RISE), EN White School (3-5 ABL/RISE), Sullivan School (6-8 ABL, TIP, SHINE), Jericho (Inclusion), or Transitions Academy depending on students’ IEP needs, district needs, and/or grade level. The HPS ESY Program runs from Monday 7/8/24-Thursday 8/8/24 from 8:45am-1:15pm. There will be a required staff orientation day on Thursday 6/27/24.

ESY Therapists may include: Speech & Language Therapists & Assistants, Occupational Therapists & Assistants, Physical Therapists & Assistants, and/or School Psychologists. The primary function of the ESY Therapist is to provide prescribed therapy services to students who require Extended School Year (ESY) therapy services per IEP. Some providers might also be responsible for completing evaluations or screenings. The ESY therapist answers directly to the ESY Site Supervisor(s), Special Education Director of Intensive Services, Special Education Director of Itinerant Services, and/or Chief of Pupil Services.
Responsibilities:
- Participates in Staff Orientation Day on Thursday 6/27/24, with option for additional prep on Friday 6/28/234
- Sets up therapy spaces and materials conducive to student and IEP needs. Supports ESY teaching staff with therapy specific accomodations.
- Creates and implements weekly therapy schedule, coordinating directly with families for drop in services
- Supervises therapy assistants (qualified therapists only)
- Designs and implements therapy services
- Administers evaluations and screenings, as requested by the Director of Itinerant Services
- Oversees and maintains data collection and IEP progress reporting
- Communicates and collaborates with ESY Site Supervisor(s) and all IEP team members to ensure effective implementation of ESY, as per IEP’s.
- Meet all district, state and federal requirements for the program to which you are assigned, including IEP and Progress Report deadlines
- Create a positive educational environment for all students using a multi-tiered system of supports
- Use professional quality communication skills to convey information to the student’s family and team
- Remain current with accepted and appropriate instructional theory, practice and research. Including engaging in regular and strategic professional development to stay current in best practices for diverse learners
- Other responsibilities, as assigned by ESY Site Supervisor(s), Special Education Director of Intensive Services, and Chief of Pupil Services
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Masters degree and Massachusetts licensure in specific therapy area
- Prior experience teaching social/pragmatics preferred
- Demonstrate collaborative teaching ability
- Experience working with students with disabilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent teamwork skills
- Bilingual applicants (Spanish) strongly encouraged to apply
