Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced, sharp, compassionate and dedicated animal lover with experience in leadership. This position requires management experience as we are looking for an Animal Care Manager to oversee the health and well-being of our puppies along with coaching and developing a staff of Animal Care Technicians at our Animal Kingdom Arizona Mills location.

We are a family owned and operated chain of pet stores called Puppies ‘N Love and Animal Kingdom — with four locations in the Valley and Tucson. The perfect candidate is detail oriented, makes wise decisions, responds quickly and calmly in difficult situations and has excellent communications skills.

Duties specific to Animal Care Manager:

  • Ensure the Health and well-being of our puppies
  • Creating a weekly schedule for the staff
  • Hosting one-on-ones regularly with your staff to ensure success
  • Opening/closing the store
  • Attending on-going training including animal health in monthly meetings
  • Holding the staff accountable for daily duties
  • Inventory control

Daily duties to be performed by Animal Care Manager and team:

  • Following company protocols to administer vaccines and other medical treatments to puppies while keeping copious medical records.
  • The ability to recognize if/when a puppy might be showing signs of illness or distress.
  • Informing animal health director of any health issues with the animals
  • A commitment to continuous education and training.
  • Cleaning and maintaining kennels and animal living areas daily.
  • Cleaning other facility areas. (Sweep, take out garbage, wash floors, etc.)
  • Washing food and water bowls and making sure all sterilization protocols are followed.
  • Providing each animal with food and water following approved feeding protocols.
  • Following proper safety measures and procedures when using medicines, chemicals and cleaning supplies.
  • Assisting other employees and customers in a cheerful and respectful manner.
  • Helping maintain a clean and organized workplace.
  • Responsible for all other duties as assigned by Animal Health Director.

What you bring to the table

  • The ability to lead and grow our animal care team
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work consistently at a fast pace
  • The ability to stand for 8 hours and be mobile in the store for long periods of time, to bend and lift a min. of 40 lbs.
  • Reliable transportation, a strong work ethic and the willingness to work nights, weekends and some holidays
