Description
As the Purchase College comprehensive resource for student mental health counseling and prevention programming, CBHS seeks a FT, licensed mental health provider to enhance our treatment team and build behavioral health intervention capacity. The successful candidate will provide short term counseling, group therapy, crisis response, campus educational outreach and programming. Duties include substance screening, assessment and referrals for students mandated via sanctions as a result of AOD violations. CBHS utilizes a Harm Reduction approach to college behavioral health. Clients are primarily traditional aged and non-heteronormative. Purchase College is a Hispanic-serving institution with a commitment to social justice. We seek candidates whose Harm Reduction approach to treatment, programming and outreach will diminish disparities in access to mental and behavioral health care.
Qualifications
Required qualifications include:
1. Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling or Social Work
2. Licensed in New York State to provide psychotherapy as a LMHC or LCSW
3. Experience working with college-aged young adults in a treatment setting
4. Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal skills and communication skills regarding substance use and behavioral health: spoken, written, digital and student engagement
5. Ability to demonstrate cultural competencies in outreach, treatment, and professional teams
Preferred Qualifications include:
1. CASAC credential
2. Experience working with college students in Recovery
3. Experience working in a college/university counseling center setting
4. Knowledge base and familiarity with Prevention Programming from a Harm Reduction pespective
5. Experience providing support and interventions for underrepresented students: Hispanic/LatinX; LGBTQ ; BIPOC, First Generation
