Summary
We are seeking a skilled Dentist to join our team at the Purchase District Health Department. In this role, you will provide essential dental care services to our community, focusing on preventive and restorative treatments. Your expertise will contribute significantly to our mission of promoting long-term health and wellness among our clients.
Purchase District Health Department is hiring for a Dentist, part time or full time. $85/hr starting. 5% increase at 6 mos. Employment of at least 1200 hours has full benefits. Schedule will follow school schedule and services will be provided at school sites in a Dental Mobile Unit. Dentist will provide services in conjunction with our in school public health dental hygiene program, Floss and Gloss, to provide restorative care to patients typically k-12th grade. Dental Hygienist team will provide cleanings and refer to dentist for restoration. PDHD is a National Health Service Corps Site.
Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
- Conducting routine dental examinations and screenings for students.
- Diagnosing and treating common dental problems, such as cavities, infections, and injuries.
- Providing basic restorative care, including fillings and simple extractions.
- Educating students and parents on proper oral hygiene practices and preventative care.
- Referring students to specialists when necessary.
- Maintaining accurate and confidential patient records.
- Collaborating with school staff, including teachers, counselors, and nurses, to address students' oral health needs.
Program Implementation:
- Developing and implementing the school's dental program, including screening protocols, treatment plans, and educational materials.
- Participating in school events and activities related to oral health.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
Education and Outreach:
- Providing oral health education to students, teachers, and parents.
- Conducting presentations and workshops on topics such as brushing techniques, nutrition, and the importance of regular dental checkups.
- Creating and distributing educational materials, such as posters, brochures, and handouts.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) degree from an accredited dental school.
- Valid dental license in the state of practice.
Experience:
- Experience in a clinical setting, particularly with a diverse patient population, is preferred.
- Experience in a school setting or working with children is a plus.
Skills:
- Strong clinical skills in general dentistry.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teaching skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of oral health principles and best practices.
- Familiarity with dental software and electronic health records systems.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
