Position:  Accounting Supervisor

Location:   Vinings/Hybrid work model

The Opportunity:  The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of the Accounting team including the accurate, completeness and timely recording of financial transactions, maintenance of the general ledger, and the completion of timely period-end close activities in accordance with GAAP and internal controls. You will coach, develop and mentor a team comprised of both Senior Accountants and Staff Accountants. 

What You Will Do:

  • Coach, develop, mentor and evaluate performance of Senior Accountants and Staff Accountants including allocating and prioritizing workload
  • Manage, oversee and demonstrate a thorough understanding of the technical and operational accounting activities of the organization as well as internal and external financial reporting
  • Ensure financial transactions are recorded and reviewed in compliance with GAAP as well as company policies and procedures
  • Summarize and analyze general ledger accounts with large volumes of data and transactions
  • Coordinate and execute timely and accurate period-end close activities according to the close schedule. This includes setting the monthly, quarterly and annual closing schedules, proactively communicating progress and status updates to management and FP&A as well as cross-functional business partners as appropriate, ensuring deadlines are met and timely identifying, communicating and resolving issue
  • Timely prepare and/or review journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Prepare monthly variance analysis for cost centers and review with cross-functional management
  • Support Senior Accounting Manager and FP&A with period-end financial analysis, budgeting/forecasting or other analysis as needed
  • Assist the Senior Accounting Manager with creating, updating and/or monitoring policies and procedures documentation, process improvements and automation, and cross-training of team roles and responsibilities
  • Monitor and adhere to internal controls
  • Collaborate with various departments to support overall company goals and objectives
  • Work with the external Auditors and consultants to support the external audit process by providing reports
  • Work cross-functionally with internal teams on process improvement initiatives

The Experience You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP (accounting test will be administered if not a CPA)
  • 5-7 years of experience in Accounting including 3 years supervisory experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (advanced Excel skills)
  • Broad industry experience and knowledge of Accounting best practices, particularly as it relates to large volumes of data
  • Strong knowledge of internal controls
  • Proficient in using and understanding large ERP systems
  • Proactive and forward thinker with the ability to focus on long term solutions and business evolution
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines and adapt to a growing and changing environment
  • Strong communicator with the ability to define and communicate business issues, with experience building close cross-functional relationships and engaging management
  • Analytical with attention to detail

Preferred Skills:

  • Licensed Georgia CPA
  • Large ERP system experience
