The Opportunity: The Staff Accountant will be responsible for the complete, accurate and timely reporting of financial transactions in the General Ledger (both P&L and balance sheet) for their assigned areas of responsibility. You will perform periodic ad hoc financial analysis and assist in preparing and supporting period-end reporting.
What You Will Do:
- Demonstrate understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) by accurately and timely preparing and entering journal entries into the general ledger system
- Timely prepare assigned balance sheet account reconciliations and identify and resolve reconciling items by working with business partners
- Assist with the reconciliation of transactions and indirect tax general ledger accounts
- Assist with the coordination of sales tax work with external service provider
- Perform general ledger and financial analysis on a period or ad hoc basis
- Develop and maintain excellent relationships with internal and external business partners
- Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the accounting activities of the organization as well as internal and external financial reporting
- Ensure financial transactions are recorded in compliance with GAAP as well as company policies and procedures
- Monitor and adhere to internal controls and proactively bring suggestions for improvement to the Accounting Supervisor
- Prepare documentation for external auditors
- Assist with review of the detailed consolidated team client performance report used for month/quarter end reporting, commission payouts and financial planning
- Prepare various month end reporting (i.e., Client Receivable Recon, Team Log, etc.)
- Coordinate efforts between Payroll Payment Operations and the Accounting team to resolve any variances between cash received and the general ledger
- Reconcile high volumes of payment batch transactions and reversals to various cash sources
- Assist in special projects and ad hoc reporting as needed
- Other duties as assigned to support other teams including Accounts Payable and/or the Payroll Payment Operations teams
The Experience You Will Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Solid technical knowledge of GAAP (Accounting test will be administered if not a CPA)
- 1-5 years of experience in Accounting
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office (advanced Excel skills)
- Ability to read and analyze financial transactions and reports
- Strong attention to detail, time management and change agility
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work overtime in times of peak workload cycles including month and year-end close
- Proven ability to handle multiple project simultaneously
- Positive attitude
Preferred Skills:
- Licensed Georgia CPA
- Public Accounting expereince
- Experience working in a large ERP system
