Compensation Hours/Week
$10.25/hour Weekly average, approximately 8-12 hours per week
Purdue University Lifeguards must meet the highest level of expectations and qualifications. We require a high degree of competency in skills, critical thinking, and knowledge. Lifeguards are required to prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. They do this by being vigilant, enforcing policies, maintaining skills and their fitness, maintaining certifications, responding appropriately to all emergencies, and keeping all users in the aquatic facilities safe.
Essential Functions
Valid American Red Cross Lifeguarding/ First-aid/ CPR/ AED.
If you don't have the lifeguard certification yet please apply anyway. We offer opportunities to acquire the required certification.
Core Competencies
Students employed in this role will develop and demonstrate a number of transferable skills essential for future employment success and be reviewed on these skills in their performance evaluation.
