Responsibilities
The successful candidate is expected to:
- Conduct research and build their educational psychology-relevant scholarship.
- Contribute to the educational psychology graduate program area course needs by teaching courses in areas such as an educational psychology, personal and social development, cognition in learning contexts, culture and cognition, and/or courses in line with their expertise, including graduate seminars and special topic seminars (2-2 course load).
- Mentor master’s and doctoral students in their area of expertise.
- Engage in other College of Education (COE) activities as appropriate, which might include forming collaborations with faculty, attending speakers’ series, and contributing to program area and departmental activities and meetings.
- Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in educational psychology or a closely related area by the position start date (e.g., Learning Sciences, Applied Developmental Psychology).
- Candidates who are ABD will be considered, but they must have their doctoral degree conferred prior to starting in August 2025.
- Research experience and interests relevant to educational psychology, which might include topics such as learner cognitive development, teacher quality, learner scaffolds, self-regulated learning, collaborative processes, identity, among others.
- Previous and sustained engagement in research as evidenced by publications, conference proceedings and presentations, and experience with a variety of research projects.
- Prior experience in post-secondary teaching of educational psychology-relevant courses within undergraduate and/or graduate preparation programs.
- Excellent communication skills and demonstrated collaborative experience.
- Experience mentoring undergraduate or graduate students in research.
