Job Summary
Purdue University announces the nomination and application process for the position of School Head, School of Engineering Technology (SoET) within the Polytechnic Institute at Purdue’s West Lafayette main campus. The school’s undergraduate programs are accredited by ETAC of ABET with over 1,800 undergraduate students. Additionally, the MS and PhD programs serve 140 graduate students, with both campus-based and online offerings. The 80 full-time faculty members conduct research in diverse areas including robotics, energy, smart manufacturing, mechatronics and electronics, engaging with companies around the world. The school head reports directly to the dean of the Purdue Polytechnic Institute and is responsible for the administrative, budgetary, and personnel decisions within the school. The successful candidate will be a thought leader to advance a culture of academic excellence and build upon already excellent engineering technology programs, including exceptional undergraduate and graduate curricula, use-inspired research programs, and strong relationships with industry.
The SoET has campuses in West Lafayette, Indianapolis, and at various statewide locations. Students have the opportunity to choose a learning location that suits their learning needs.
The SoET academic programs are thematically focused on smart manufacturing, as most graduates join the engineering profession in product or process engineering roles. To ensure graduate success, the SoET benefits from state-of-the-art laboratories in the newly constructed Dudley and Lambertus Halls, along with associated labs in other campus buildings. More than 35 separate labs are on the West Lafayette campus, serving both instructional and research needs. The Indianapolis campus and the statewide locations all have their own labs primarily serving instructional uses.

- Candidates must demonstrate prior experience leading and mentoring faculty in the areas of learning, discovery, and engagement.
- Candidates should be recognized for scholarly achievement across the breadth of engineering technology, have achieved a doctorate degree (engineering technology or related field), and have the qualifications for appointment as a full professor.
- Candidates must have skills as an effective leader with competencies in administration, fiscal management, facilitation of grants, and development.
- Candidates must have experience teaching, instructing, or mentoring undergraduate students.
- Candidates must have a record of management experience and an understanding of interaction with diverse groups of internal and external constituents.
- Candidates must have a commitment to teaching and stay committed to continuous improvement through active participation in curriculum development and related committee service.
