Purdue University Fort Wayne is currently seeking a fulltime onsite Access Consultant in our Disability Access Center (DAC). The Access Consultant of the Disability Access Center (DAC) assists the office in administering access and support for students with disabilities at Purdue University Fort Wayne. This position pays an annual salary between $42,700.00-$46,000.00.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Manages a significant student caseload administering access and highly specialized support for students with disabilities and will conduct the interactive process, which determines and implements reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities, resulting in students gaining full and equitable access to curricular and co-curricular environments, reviewing additional sources of information as needed, including, but not limited to, medical documentation, IEPs, and 504 plans.
- Coordinates the provision of reasonable accommodations in consultation with students, faculty and staff.
- Maintains appropriate records by documenting communication with and regarding students and others. who are involved in the process of facilitating access and recording recommended courses of action or accommodations.
- Assists with the implementation of auxiliary accommodations such as Closed Captioning, Sign Language Interpreters, Peer Notetakers, Alternative Formats, Assistive Technology, Laboratory Assistants, Accessible Furniture, and Accommodated Testing.
- Assists the Associate Director and Senior Access Consultant with day-to-day office responsibilities and matters as needed.
- Serves as a member on division-wide and campus-wide committees as assigned or volunteered.
- Assists the Senior Access Consultant with campus outreach activities that are educational in nature as well as in response to identified needs.
- Takes a leadership role across campus representing the DAC while promoting "Best Practices in Higher Education Disability Services" that is informed by the Social Model of Disability.
