What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Director for Employer Relations position at Purdue University?
We are currently seeking a full-time onsite Associate Director for Employer Relations (35821) in our Career Development Center. This position is responsible for building relationships and creating awareness among corporate and community organizations with regard to the benefits of hiring Purdue Fort Wayne students and graduates, and of the services of the Career Development Center. The pay for this position is $53,800.
- Develop and implement strategies designed to increase employment opportunities for university students and alumni.
- Identify new potential relationships with regional, state, and national employers for recruitment of university students and alumni working with the Executive Director for top employer partners.
- Manage, cultivate and foster positive existing relationships with prospective employer organizations and corporate partners.
- Plan, facilitate and manage employer relations events (such as Talent Tuesday, Career Connections, Immersion Excursions, Career and Internship Fairs).
- Partner with college specific Career Development Center liaisons. Involve them in company visits and meetings when appropriate and keep them informed of internship and job opportunities. Work through liaisons to connect employers with faculty and academic departments
- Lead and create visibility by participating in various local, state, regional, and national organizations such as Chambers of Commerce, Societies of Human Resource Management, and NACE.
- Support the Executive Director in creating and implementing an employer advisory council to inform the Career Development Center on current topics and trends in various industries which impact PFW students.
- Collaborates with employers and encouraging and assisting them in posting learning opportunities in Handshake and notifies career liaisons to promote opportunities to students and programs. Develop, create, curate a list of employer relationships in the management through Handshake system.
- Manage employer and job approvals in Handshake.
- Create and manage Qualtrics surveys from employers, Handshake data, institutional data and MS Excel spreadsheets.
- Analyze data to inform decisions for the Career Development Center team.
- Supervise the Experiential Learning Coordinator.
- Collaborate and support the Experiential Learning Coordinator in structuring, managing opportunities (internships, co-ops) and keeping the coordinator aware of new opportunities, goals of employer within internship context as well as address concerns from employers.
- Work with employers to support their existing internship program and encourage development of internship programs for those without.
- Collaborates with university Director of Alumni Relations to build relationships with alumni in order to better utilize connections in local businesses, and recruit alumni to share career advice and mentoring with current students.
- Support students to transition from student status to alumni status (such as Handshake profile, inform of services provided to alumni).
- A Bachelor’s degree.
- At least 6 years of work experience required in development, employer relations, recruiting, relationship building, sales, or other position requiring networking and connecting with numerous employers.
- Excellent customer services skills, strong interpersonal communication and oral presentation skills.
- Excellent information system and database management skills needed.
- Excellent networking and connecting skills.
- Ability to plan and execute events.
- Some local travel required for events.
- Ability to represent the University with external constituents.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A Master’s degree.
- Experience working with the Handshake platform.
- Experience working with academic units and internships is a plus.
