What are the responsibilities and job description for the Career Services Specialist position at Purdue University?
Purdue’s College of Liberal Arts, an emerging leader in innovative Liberal Arts education and scholarship, is looking for a Career Services Specialist reporting to the Career Services Manager. The Specialist will mentor and advance opportunities for students within the College as they embark upon professional experiences off campus. Responsible for utilizing resources and creating partnerships in the College, across campus, with alumni and employers to enhance students' career readiness. This position will advise students regarding internships and career placement. Responsible for coordinating on campus outreach opportunities for employers and partner organizations. This position will identify and make available a variety of student programming, workshops, seminars, and other experiential learning options to enhance and grow professional experiences for students within the College.

What We’re Looking For:
- Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Three years of experience in higher education, career placement, marketing, business development, human resources, or student services.
- In lieu of a degree, consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required work experience (Associate’s degree 5 years of experience).
- Skills:
- Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional relationship building skills among external and internal constituents with an ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people
- Creativity and professionalism along with the ability to develop new protocols and processes.
- Exceptional organizational abilities, including time and resource management
- Must possess a desire to learn and use emerging technology and/or understand communication trends
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Qualtrics, Cascade or other CMS software.
Nice to Have:
- A degree in Liberal Arts
- Prior experience in customer relations/service.
- Previous experience dealing with varied constituent groups across a range of ages.
- Prior experience in higher education.
- Demonstrated expertise in program development, career coaching, and relationship management, such as recruiting; human resources; talent development, or career services activities.
- Knowledge of Liberal Arts majors and academic programs
- This position includes travel and work on nights and weekends, based on business need.
