Job Summary
This position will serves as the facilities (ABE Building and ADM Innovation Center) and large equipment manager for the ABE department. The ABE Facilities and Large Equipment Manager is expected to have familiarity with and knowledge of the department’s facilities and equipment (including forklifts, trucks, and trailers) as well as the building occupants they serve. You will supervise teaching lab staff in use, repair, and scheduling of equipment for the teaching needs of the department.
The Facilities and Equipment Manager oversees the training for safe use of departmental vehicles, machinery, and facilities (including research laboratories and machine shop) and serves as a consultant to faculty and staff in the specification, design, fabrication, testing and repair of equipment (both machining and scientific) and instrumentation which is not commercially available. Instrumentation may be used for research prototypes, manufacturing, or analytical testing. You will identify design inconsistencies and provide recommendations for increased safety and performance. In addition, you will be the main communication link between Physical Facilities and students, faculty and staff who work in the building include serving as the ABE safety coordinator and ABE liaison with Radiological and Environmental Management (REM) as well as coordinating all training in the department in safety awareness and compliance.
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 2 of facilities maintenance and/or facilities administration experience
- In lieu of degree consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required experience (Associate 4 years of related experience; HS diploma/GED 6 years of related experience)
- Ability to multi‐task with numerous interruptions while paying close attention to details
- Flexibility, tact, and diplomacy essential
- Ability to problem solve and work independently
