As the Laboratory Technician you will Perform routine or specialized diagnostic procedures/tests for identification of microbial pathogens of animals and analyze data in support of the diagnostic and research missions of the Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory. This position is a molecular position with required training in other laboratory sections as needed to provide backup assistance. Core duties include nucleic acid extraction and PCR amplification (real-time and gel-based). Applicants must be willing to work nights and weekends as needed for national reportable disease testing, specifically during animal disease outbreak situations.

What We’re Looking For:
Education and Experience
Qualified candidates will need:
- Bachelor’s degree in science or a related field
- Veterinary technical degrees may also be considered
- One year of relevant work experience
- An equivalent combination of an Associate’s degree and 3 years of relevant experience may also be considered
Skills Needed:
- Must have the ability to multitask and be flexible in order to accomplish daily tasks.
- Must be willing to work in a team setting
- The right candidate will also have the ability to work independently under moderate supervision
Preferred:
- A degree in biology or animal sciences is preferred.
