Position Overview:
Purdue Athletics Event Operations Department is looking for a dedicated, customer-focused Lead Student Intern to assist with parking operations at Purdue Athletics Events. This role provides an exciting opportunity to gain hands on experience in event management and operations while providing a positive game day experience for fans, staff, and student athletes.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with Football and Men's Basketball Parking Operations: Support parking logistics for all Football and Men's Basketball games, ensuring efficient and safe operations.
- Lot Management: Learn where all game day lots are located. Assist with the safe and efficient parking of vehicles in paved, grass, gravel, and parking garage areas while ensuring optimal utilization of space.
- Enforce Tailgate Policies: Ensure fans follow Purdue Athletics tailgate policies and guidelines; communicate any violations to supervisors.
- Provide Game Day Information: Answer questions and direct fans to relevant locations (parking lots, Ross-Ade Stadium, Mackey Arena, etc.) while providing up-to-date game day information.
- RV Parking Operations: Assist and lead RV parking operations on the evening prior to home football games.
Leadership:
- Effectively communicate with up to 150 parking attendants on football game days and 30 parking attendants on basketball gamedays.
- Manage the parking operations equipment inventory for all game days (vests, wands, radios, chairs, external batteries, hot hands)
- Assist with the training, briefing, and deploying of staff on game days
Qualifications:
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, carrying, and standing or walking for extended periods.
- High attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and athletic staff.
Preferred Skills:
- Previous experience in event operations or customer service.
- Knowledge of Purdue Athletics events and facilities.
