What are the responsibilities and job description for the Military Education Benefit Clerk - Residency position at Purdue University?
The Military Veterans Clerk assists with various Departments of Veterans Affairs educational benefit programs for the Veteran and Military Success Center, consults with veterans, members of the military and their families about education benefits and assists in resolving problems and concerns, maintains a database of enrollment records for all students using VA benefits, calculates eligible tuition and fees to be certified to the Department of Veterans Affairs and handles other matters related to student’s GI Bill® benefits, process enrollment updates and ensure that Purdue complies with VA regulations. This position also assists with campus processes and policies that help and assist military–connected students. Examples include but may not be limited to residency process, absence policy, and withdrawals for military-connected students.

Education and Experience
Qualified candidates will need:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Four (4) years of office or administrative experience related to military-connected education benefits such as the GI Bill, Tuition Assistance, or state administered veterans’ education benefits

- Communication (oral and written)
- Telephone etiquette
- Customer service
- Ability to meet deadlines, work with minimal supervision, and work well in a team environment
- Proficient computer and related software skills, e.g. word processing, spreadsheets, database, data query, Internet, etc. Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, Google
- Knowledge of Family Educational Rights and Privacy Acts regulations
