What are the responsibilities and job description for the Roofer position at Purdue University?
As a Roofer for the Operations and Maintenance Dept., you will:
- Maintain, inspect, and repair or replace roofs, including slate, tile, tin, gravel, asphalt, single-ply systems, and liquid applied systems.
- Inspect roofs to locate the source of a leak or damage.
- Perform preventative maintenance inspections of buildings maintained by Operations & Maintenance.
- Direct the delivery of material and maintain contact with customers and other crafts regarding the status of jobs.

What We Are Looking For:
Required:
- High school diploma/GED.
- 3 years of previous roofing experience.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with University policies regarding building maintenance and security.
Skills:
- Knowledge of materials, methods and tools involved in repair or replacement of various roof systems.
- Slate, tile, metal, built-up roofing, various single ply systems, shingles, gutters, and downspouts.
- Strong verbal communication skills required.
- Knowledge of campus buildings and locations preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings and schematics required.
- Basic math skills required. Must be able to lift and carry heavy objects.
- Must be able to work from ladders, scaffolds, and lifts at heights up to 100 feet.
- Valid driver's license required.
