Job Description
The primary role of the Student Life Ambassador position is to maintain a caring, service-oriented attitude with respect to the department’s program objectives. The goal of this position is to give students valuable real-world experience in an office environment. This position should work 5-12 hours per week beginning in the fall semester. Those hours may be worked in any combination, at the discretion of the direct supervisor. The Student Life Ambassador position must be reliable, organized, responsible, and flexible. They must also be ambitious, detail-oriented, creative, and driven. Also, display a willingness to assist students, visitors, and staff that need support, or have inquiries related to Student Life.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be actively enrolled at Purdue University
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Flexible and dependable with a strong attention to detail
- Problem solving, logic and reasoning skills
- Customer service oriented
- Ability to multi-task and work within deadlines
- Ability to work independently and with a team
- Be timely and organized
- Greet students and visitors, direct them to the appropriate departments or individuals.
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness throughout the facility.
- Maintain safety and risk management standards of the department
- Perform daily upkeep of supplies throughout the facility
- Exhibit friendliness, diplomacy, and tact in responding to customers
- Handle emergency situations and prioritize responsibilities while continuing to provide the highest level of customer service
- Maintain confidentiality and exhibit professional conduct when handling sensitive information
- Answer telephones and respond to inquiries via telephone or email.
- Implement and/or develop office procedures and record systems.
- Organize and distribute messages.
- Perform administrative duties, including filing and photocopying.
- Other duties as assigned associated with Student Life
- Demonstrate professional verbal communication in all interactions

- Verbally communicates to staff on situations that may arise due to problems
- Written communication to complete accurate food usage records and food temperatures according to established procedures
