Engineering Machinist
POSITION SUMMARY:
Machine precision parts, enhance existing components, and build innovative equipment. Responsible for machining new parts as well as modifying existing ones, fabricating and assembling equipment, and contributing valuable design and fabrication insights to support innovative projects. Hands-on skills will directly impact the development of high-performance fishing gear used by enthusiasts worldwide.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Precision Machining: Set up and operate a variety of machine tools (e.g., lathes, drill presses, manual and CNC milling machines, grinders) to manufacture parts with exact specifications.
- Fabrication & Assembly: Build and assemble new or modified mechanical components and assemblies with an emphasis on safety, quality, and durability.
- Quality Control: Utilize advanced measuring instruments to verify dimensions of parts and ensure accurate component installation.
- Innovation & Recommendations: Proactively recommend changes to equipment or product designs to improve performance and efficiency.
- Independent Work & Problem-Solving: Work under general supervision to complete tasks with substantial variety and complexity, using experience, deductive reasoning, and judgment to meet project goals.
- Advanced Skill Application: Apply mastery of machining and fabrication skills, adapting techniques, tools, materials, and equipment to suit each unique project.
- Mentorship: Serve as a subject matter expert/resource to teammates by offering guidance and support in resolving complex issues and assist in training new hires or employees from other departments who are less experienced with machine tools.
- Preventative Maintenance: Maintain and provide preventative care for hot runner injection molding tools to ensure long-term functionality.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of related experience in machining, fabrication, or similar fields.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical certifications are a plus.
- Machining Expertise: Skilled in manual milling, manual lathing, and CNC milling techniques.
- Fabrication & Assembly: Extensive experience and expertise with horizontal bandsaws, MIG/TIG welding, drill presses, grinders, sanders, and general equipment assembly.
- CAM Programming: Proficient in CAM programming, with a preference for MasterCAM knowledge.
- Blueprint Reading: Capable of reading and interpreting blueprints for accurate product development..
- Standard Work: Ability to read, comprehend and adhere to standard work procedures.
- Following Directions: Ability to follow verbal and/or written instructions.
- Communications: Good written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Accuracy: Requires accuracy and attention to detail.
- Self-Driven: Self-motivated; can work alone or as part of a team.
- Analysis: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
