What you will do:
- The Operations Manager plans, directs, and coordinates the operations of an organization. This position is responsible for ensuring and improving the performance, productivity, efficiency, and profitability of departmental and organizational operations through the provision of effective methods and strategies.
- Demonstrates ethical leadership qualities in the improvement of Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery performance measures for the facility
- Directs and manages plant operations for production, scheduling, maintenance, quality, and shipping and receiving
- Implement, emphasize importance of, and monitor compliance to appropriate safety policies and procedures.
- Develop operational procedures that are designed to prevent employee accidents and injuries.
- Identify process and quality changes designed to improve manufacturing or department capabilities.
- Establishes and monitors overall plant performance for production and quality standards
- Drive continuous improvement efforts utilizing lean initiatives; contribute to company’s lean culture through management of areas 6S standards, management of the Kaizen program, and leading lean project teams as needed in area to drive continuous improvement efforts.
- Cooperates with management team in formulating and establishing company policies and operating procedures
- Leads, evaluates, coaches and trains manufacturing personnel
- Coordinates plant activities through the planning with departmental managers to ensure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner
- Develops and controls profits, plans, and budget
- Implements cost effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, manpower, wages, and salaries
- Develops and implements standard operating procedures
- Controls and minimizes labor overtime and repair expenses
- Maintains existing plant facilities and equipment
- Provides leadership and training to accomplish the company goals and objectives
- Incorporates shop floor organization and plant cleanliness among plant personnel
- Develop and track key performance indicators to meet or improve cycle time performance.
- Ensure timely response to operational issues impacting customer satisfaction and ensure conformance to customer requirements.
- Investigate, analyze, and resolve various system (process), part (materials flow), or people issues to correct deficiencies, reduce costs, improve processes/performance by using root cause analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Manage and coach development of team and individual goals; implement employee development plans.
- Manage employee hiring, reward, and discipline processes.
- Minimum five years of relevant prior operational management experience in a fast paced environment
- Track record of leadership responsibilities
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience in scoping, leading, and implementing process improvements through: Lean process, Kaizen, and/or Six Sigma.
- Personable, enthusiastic, ambitious, and team-oriented
- Basic understanding of finance including P&L statements
- Demonstrates clear and effective communication to upper management and internal department
- Possess superior time management skills along with ability to lead by example
