Role and Responsibilities
The bilingual customer service representative position is responsible for providing customer service to English and Spanish-speaking customers. This position reports to the office manager and is in a clerical office setting. This role includes continual use of the computer and telephone, with occasional use of the photocopier. Clerical duties such as filing are required as well. There are no travel requirements for this position.
This is a full-time position. Typical workdays are Monday through Thursday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., and Friday 8:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. Essential functions of the job include:
Processes customer orders and payments.
- Opens and/or maintains customer database; records and updates data and makes necessary changes.
- Resolves product or service problems by clarifying the customer’s complaint; determining the cause of the problem; selecting and explaining the best solution to solve the problem; expediting corrections or adjustments; following up to ensure resolution.
- Maintains financial accounts by processing customer adjustments. Recommends potential product or services to management by collecting customer information and analyzing customer needs.
- Clerical duties such as filing and answering the telephone.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- General related experience or previous experience in a customer service representative capacity is strongly preferred; however, otherwise suitable candidates may be considered.
- Extremely fluent in literate Spanish (read, write, speak). (This ability will be tested.)
- Good understanding of the English language including verbal, written, and reading skills.
- Strong computer literacy.
- Excellent telephone skills.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal (i.e., people) skills are required.
- Ability to read and follow instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others and work as part of the team.
- Ability to learn new tools, equipment and processes.
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
