Position Summary:
As a Licensed Practical Nurse at the Montana Arthritis Center, you assist physicians, nurses, and other medical staff by performing administrative and clinical duties under the direction of a physician. Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records. Clinical duties may include preparing treatment rooms for patient exams, recording patient medical history, and cleaning and sterilizing medical equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Escort patients to exam rooms, interview patients, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document all information in patient’s chart.
- Play a crucial role in patient education, providing information on rheumatologic conditions, treatment plans, medication management, lifestyle modifications, and self-care techniques. This education may occur during clinic visits, over the phone, or through educational materials.
- Provide emotional support and counseling to patients coping with chronic rheumatologic conditions. They may address patients' concerns, provide resources for support groups or counseling services, and advocate for their needs within the healthcare system.
- Ensure all related reports, labs and information is filled out and available in patients’ medical records prior to their appointment
- Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records, keeping patient information confidential.
- Prepares treatment rooms for patient examinations; Assist physician and physician assistant in exam rooms
- Disinfects, cleans treatment rooms following patient examinations; Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
- Keeps exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, prepare sterilization as required; Properly disposes of contaminated supplies
- Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
- Maintain all logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, cold sterilization fluid change, etc.)
- Takes telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy calls
- Draws blood, removes sutures, changes dressings.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Proven working experience as an LPN.
- Knowledge of medical office management systems and procedures.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multitask and prioritize work without being told what to do.
- Social perceptiveness and service-oriented.
- Demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others.
- Comfortable with technology with experience with EMR, MS Word, Excel, MS outlook.
Education/Licensure/Technical Requirements.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- LPN License
- BLS required within 60 days
- Ability to meet U.S. employment and eligibility requirements
