Responsibilities
- Selects type and size of pipe, fittings, valves, steel, equipment and related materials to assemble as instructed.
- Plans sequence of operations, applying knowledge of geometry, effects of heat and allowance for weld shrinkage in preparatory to welding.
- Lays out, positions, aligns and fits components together according to blueprints and project specifications.
- Moves parts into position manually or by hoist, cranes, jigs, fixtures, clamps and jacks.
- Cuts, threads, bends, shape pipe and steel with various tools and equipment.
- Loads, transports and unloads materials, tools, equipment and supplies.
- Performs minor maintenance and cleaning activities of tools, equipment and facility.
- Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules, including wearing personal safety equipment.
- Performs other duties and activities as required.
- Technical or on-the-job experience as well as certifications preferred.
- Take a company written pipefitter’s test.
- Working knowledge of B31.3 piping code,
- Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
- Make decisions based on measurable criteria.
- Apply basic math, geometry, and trigonometry mathematical functions to solve problems.
- Plan work and select proper tools.
- Visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings.
