What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Manager for Lawn Treatment Company position at PURE Lawn Management?
We are searching for a team member to start a career with our growing company who's mission is to make Joplin and the surrounding areas lawn and landscape beautiful.
PURE Lawn Management is located in Carl Junction, Missouri. We are a small, family owned company that focuses primarily on the Lawn Treatment Applications (fertilizer and weed control or various pest control). We offer several other services that are geared toward making lawns and landscapes beautiful.
- Contract time is 7am-4pm Monday thru Friday.
- January and February 20-30 hours a week is expected.

- NOTE: For employees wanting Health Insurance, this will need to be purchased separately and not provided by PURE Lawn Management. Historically, we have found it is more affordable for employees to obtain marketplace coverage. We are happy to walk along side of employees to help them obtain the coverage they may need.

Work Experience/Skills/Education:
- No experience/education is mandatory but starting pay could be influenced based on level of prior experience. All employees are required to complete an in-person and on-the-job interview as part of the hiring process as well as a drug test screening.

Start as a Technician at $19/hr.
- Learn the company’s standard operating procedures- how we do what we do
- Learn the craft of lawn and landscape treatments
- Begin Pulling hose, operating ride-on equipment, spraying trees and landscapes with skid sprayers, spraying for mosquitos, fleas and ticks
After 3 months $1/hr raise if:
- Always on time, stays as long as needed, has a positive attitude while at work
- Communicates well/does not leave conversations open ended
- Has the physical capability to perform the job and handle the weather changes
- No disciplinary action forms received
After 6 months $2/hr raise if able to:
Lawn/Landscape:
- Independently mix, load and apply materials with confidence and ease
- Explain the 3 main grass types through ID, growth habits, herbicide and fertility needs
- ID 80% of weeds found in landscapes and lawns
- Explain the weed type categories and the herbicides needed to control them
- Explain fertilizers we use and types (organic, synthetic, slow release, NPK)
- Competently operate all equipment used on the lawn - Aerator, dethatcher, hose sprayer, backpack sprayer, ride-on, push spreader
- Complete an average of 225,000 square feet of lawn treatments per day
Pest (MFT- Mosquito, Flea, Tick):
- Explain the lifecycle, breeding and nesting habits of mosquitos, fleas and ticks (MFT)
- Explain the insecticides and other management procedures to control MFT
- Competently perform MFT applications
Other:
- Demonstrate confidence and skill driving the truck/trailer
- Demonstrate confidence during client interactions about the applications performed and products applied
- Demonstrate competence using all company software applications
- Not receive any disciplinary action forms
After 12 months $2/hr raise if able to:
Lawn/Landscape:
- Diagnose lack of water, too much water, disease/pest or other issues in the lawn and landscape
- Perform any service the company offers
- Explain the use and need of all products the company uses, including but not limited to: fertilizer, fungicide, herbicide, insecticides and bio stimulants
- Correctly identify 50% of the plants found in a landscape
- Obtain a commercial applicator license in structural pest and turf and ornamental categories.
- Not receive any disciplinary action forms
After 12 months - Begin Transition Into Manager Role:
- Stay in the field as needed
- Fill in when technicians miss work
- Do random odd/end and specialty jobs
- Problem solve issues on lawns
- Meet customers, talk through issues and offer the solution
- Schedule services for technicians, ensure route and timing of applications are optimal
- Maintain inventory of product
- Manage equipment maintenance
- Quality control, inspect lawns, equipment, and processes
- Oversee sales
- Assist in recruiting, training and supervising technicians
- Attend leadership training seminars
- Read leadership and self development materials
