The Global Director of Sourcing will be responsible for the development and execution of commodity and supplier strategies that will provide year over year cost savings and, quality & delivery improvements. Coordination of these activities with the goals and business requirements of engineering, quality, sales, operations, and finance in achieving the optimal supply base capabilities. Responsibilities of current production commercial related issues are managed within the sourcing team as well.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages strategies for all areas of purchasing to include direct, indirect, and logistics.
- Develops, updates, and maintains corporate purchasing strategies to enhance corporate EBITDA, cash flow, strengthen contract integrity, and establish key KPI’s.
- Develops and maintains a commodity strategy that supports all company requirements and includes both Domestic and introduce Low-Cost Country Sources as dictated by the needs of the business plan.
- Leads supplier selection and negotiation process for key sourcing projects.
- Leads PPV roadmap and activities for YoY cost reductions.
- Maintains strategic sourcing relationships and develop strong partnerships with suppliers.
- Maintains the supplier database, purchasing records, and related documentation.
- Negotiates supplier contracts that commit performance improvements in cost, delivery, quality, order lead time, payment cycles, technology, and/or risk mitigation.
- Works in conjunction with the materials team to ensure supplier agreements are aligned with scheduling and inventory requirements of the plants.
- Participate in all efforts for supplier analysis and selection processes - make/buy and buy/buy.
- Monitor’s supplier performance to contractual agreements.
- Participates in developing technology roadmaps that drive specific supplier strategies. Communicates industry and technology trends or events to the organization to mitigate impact to the Company and takes evasive action where necessary.
- Helps to develop strong working relationships with other functional groups within the Company and external suppliers to facilitate accomplishment of strategic objectives.
- Provides input to budget and purchase price variance projections, and monitors performance to goals. Takes corrective action on notice of supplier deficiencies or market disruptions.
- Participates in new product development teams as required to support development supplier selection and production planning.
- Supports Lean/Six Sigma projects and initiatives to improve internal performance and customer responsiveness.
- Performs miscellaneous related duties and special projects as assigned.
- Develops strong working relationships with other functional groups within the Company and external suppliers to facilitate accomplishment of strategic objectives.
Qualifications:
- 10 years Automotive Purchasing Experience.
- Excellent network within high/low/mixed volume sourcing suppliers.
- Previous experience with annual spend of $100M.
- Demonstrated commodity annual price reduction and strategy.
- Working knowledge/experience in various commodities.
- Ability to motivate and lead others toward obtaining corporate objectives.
- Contract development.
- Positive, can-do mentality.
- Must possess solid management skills and expertise.
- Must be able to communicate with a broad range of people at all levels of the organization.
- Must be organized and capable of setting priorities.
Education and/or Experience:
- Skilled in complex negotiations, supplier selection and the development, approval, and control of purchases in a decentralized environment.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, annual price reductions and cost targeting experience.
- Worked for a progressive company in an environment that has provided the individual the background to implement best practice principles.
- Experienced working with computerized manufacturing software and advanced Excel abilities.
- Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA, CPIM or CPM a plus.
Travel Requirements:
Travel will be ~33% including some international to India and China.
Salary : $100
