At Pure Storage, security is at the core of everything we do. As a Cybersecurity Intern, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the security of our cutting-edge storage solutions. You will gain hands-on experience in identifying security risks, enhancing secure development processes, and working closely with engineering teams to build resilient products. Your work will directly contribute to strengthening our security posture and protecting customer data.
Interns at Pure work on impactful projects that align with their skills and interests while being mentored by experienced security engineers. You’ll have the opportunity to conduct threat modeling exercises, product security risk assessments, and improve DevSecOps processes while learning best practices in product security.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BRING TO THIS ROLE...
- Currently enrolled in a BS, MS, or PhD program in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field, with an expected graduation date in or after December 2025
- Strong understanding of security fundamentals, including secure software development, cryptography, and vulnerability assessment
- Experience with threat modeling methodologies (e.g., STRIDE, PASTA) and security risk assessment frameworks a plus
- Proficiency in at least one programming language: Python, C, C , Go, or Java
- Familiarity with secure coding practices, SDLC & DevSecOps principles, CI/CD security, and cloud security is preferred
- Basic knowledge of operating systems, networking, and security tooling (e.g., static analysis, fuzz testing, penetration testing, container security)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Ability to communicate security risks effectively to engineering teams and stakeholders
- Initiative to work independently and deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced environment
- Able to work 12 consecutive weeks full-time during Summer 2025
- Must be willing and able to work in an open office, team environment
As this is an office-centric role, you are expected to be present in the office based in Santa Clara.
The monthly base salary range is: $8,500 – $10,000. Salary ranges are determined based on academic degree at the time of offer extended. This role may be eligible for housing assistance and/or travel bonus.
