· Hybrid in Durham, NC or Orlando, FL area. This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of two days per week. Must be within a commutable distance.
Role Overview
The Sales Account Manager will play a crucial role in driving new business development and nurturing relationships with key customers. This position requires strong account management skills, including maintaining accurate CRM data and representing the company at industry events. The Sales Account Manager collaborates closely with internal teams—including Quality, R&D, and Customer Service—to ensure customer satisfaction, resolve complaints, and meet sales goals. This role reports to the Director, Strategic Accounts.
What You'll Be Doing
New Business:
· Identify and prioritize potential new customers and market segments.
· Advise on go-to-market strategies and market segmentation plans.
· Build and maintain relationships with new and existing customers.
· Actively pursue and close sales opportunities.
CRM System Maintenance:
· Track and maintain their respective CRM data in Excel.
Industry Events:
· Represent the company at industry events.
· Participate in networking sessions to build brand awareness and prospect new customers.
Collaboration and Communication:
· Facilitate communication between sales, quality, R&D, and customer service teams.
· Address contamination issues and ensure products meet customer specifications through additional testing.
· Collaborate with the feedstock team to align materials with customer product needs.
Contracts and Agreements:
· Manage key aspects of customer contracts, including pricing, sample requirements, volume, payment terms, FDA requirements, PCR%, and specifications.
· Lead negotiations for large or strategic sales deals to ensure favorable terms and conditions.
Product Development:
· Support Sales Directors to help Customers develop products using company materials or blends.
· Collaborate with additive suppliers and material processors to create tailored products for customers.
Market Research and Analysis:
· Conduct market research to identify trends and opportunities.
· Analyze competitor activities and market conditions to adjust strategies.
Customer Relationship Management:
· Maintain strong relationships with key customers.
· Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
Strategic Partnerships:
· Identify and develop strategic partnerships and alliances.
· Collaborate with partners to expand market reach and drive growth.
Sales Strategy Input:
· Provide input on the formulation and refinement of the corporate sales strategy, focusing on target customers, product offerings, and market needs.
· Ensure alignment with overall company objectives.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
· Work closely with marketing, finance, and operations to ensure alignment and support business objectives.
Basic Qualifications (Required)
· Bachelor’s Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· 2 - 5 years account management experience.
· Proven experience in sales and Customer relationships within the plastics or sustainability industry required; general polypropylene knowledge preferred.
· Ability to travel up to 40-50% to industry events and customer sites.
· Application or Product development experience.
· Proficiency in CRM systems, Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with Customers and all levels within the company.
