Small Tool Mechanic

Salary Range: $25.00 To $35.00 Hourly

Small Tool Mechanic safely diagnoses problems and performs skilled mechanical repairs and maintenance on small power equipment, small gasoline and diesel engines, tools, handheld devices, and pickups while documenting work performed.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and perform major or minor repair work and perform routine maintenance on small outdoor power equipment, small engines, tools, and pickups
• Perform minor repair and preventative maintenance on pickups
• Perform repair and maintenance on shop and facility equipment
• Prepare detailed work orders
• Prepare repair estimates
• Manage small parts inventory of common use parts and supplies
• Track actual time for repair work and parts used for accurate cost tracking
• Thoroughly test repaired equipment
• Instruct others in proper care and safe operation of small equipment and tools
• Performs other duties as required

• Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
• Skilled in the use of the variety of tools, equipment, materials, and procedures used in the repair of equipment, small engines and shop equipment
• Strong understanding of gasoline and diesel engines
• Working knowledge of hydraulic systems
• Working knowledge of 240V/120V electrical systems
• Strong understanding of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the mechanic trade
