Summary of Duties:
The Human Resource Generalist is to provide direct support to the Human Resources team in the day-to-day administration, communication, and implementation of human resource activities for the company. They will provide advice, assistance and follow-up on company policies, procedures, and documentation. The Human Resources Generalist acts as a liaison between employees and internal and external customers.
Human Resources Generalist Job Responsibilities:
•Provides HR/administrative assistance to managers/supervisors in the areas of policy interpretation, HR guidance, & employee problem resolution.
•Maintains employee personnel, leave of absence, workers’ compensation & training files/records.
•Coordinates candidate pre-employment process.
•Prepares new hire orientation packets and conducts new hire on-boarding meetings.
•Maintains I-9 files/records.
•Creates, maintains and regularly audits personnel files and HRIS database records ensuring accuracy, consistency and compliance.
•Assists and advises employees and managers on HR procedures and policies.
•Performs administrative duties in support of the maintenance of employee records, including personnel status updates, terminations, and new hires.
•Assists with return to work administration as needed.
• Ensure compliance with labor regulations.
Human Resources Generalist Qualifications/Skills:
•3 years of successful experience in human resources
•BA/BS desired
•Understanding of general human resources policies and procedures
•Knowledge of federal and state employment laws; experience with multi-state law desired.
•Must have in-depth knowledge of all major categories of employment relationship, including employee relations, safety and work environment, training, recruitment, statistical analysis, workers compensation and benefits
• Excellent communication and people skills
•Ability to effectively analyze data and provide recommendations
• Outstanding knowledge of MS Office
Experience with the following is a plus:
Willingness to learn American Sign Language and Deaf culture
PHR or SPHR Certification preferred but not required.
Work environment:
Employees may experience the following physical demands for extended periods of time:
- Sitting, standing and walking (95-100%)
- Keyboarding (40-60%)
- Viewing computer monitor, videophone, and cell phone requiring close vision (40-60%)
- Lifting computers and other equipment.
- Position may require some travel.
