Sr. DBA – MS SQL Server Job Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for developing, monitoring, maintaining and administrating Microsoft SQL Servers and some mySQL Servers and Databases. The DBA will support the SQL development, Applications development and Business Intelligence teams.
- Database Server RDBMS installation and configuration using MS SQL Server 2012
- Database and Instance creation, validation, upgrades/migrations and maintenance/support
- Storage, Jobs and Backup management
- Data Replication to support data warehousing and reporting
- Develop and maintain solutions using SSIS, specifically ETL operations
- Maintain SSRS report server to support reporting team
- Maintain SQL Server high availability options including clustering, log shipping and mirroring
- Maintain and support Data Warehousing and Data Cubes
- Some Stored Procedure, Trigger and View development
- After hours on call support for production issues will be required
Sr. DBA – MS SQL Server Qualifications / Skills:
- Experience with database design best practices, including normalization, query optimization, referential integrity and logical database architecture
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Familiarity with SQL Server tools including Profiler and Tuning Advisor
- Experience developing efficient stored procedures, views and triggers
- Knowledgeable in both DDL and DML T-SQL syntax
- Ability to work independently and quickly while learning in a fast paced environment
- Ability to work as a self starter under limited supervision
- Must be capable of performing in a dynamic environment, handling multiple tasks simultaneously with the ability to work on multiple projects at any time
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent Industry experience required
- 7 years as a professional Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator
Work environment:
Employees may experience the following physical demands for extended periods of time:
- Sitting, standing and walking (95-100%)
- Keyboarding (40-60%)
- Viewing computer monitor, videophone, and cell phone (40-60%)
- Lifting computers and other equipment.
- Position may require some travel.
