Job Summary

The Clinical Nurse Coordinator – Operating Room provides leadership and coordination of daily surgical operations. This role supports the Surgical Services Director in managing clinical staff, promoting patient safety, improving perioperative outcomes, and maintaining high staff engagement. The CNC serves as a key liaison between staff, surgeons, and administrative teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily OR operations, ensuring smooth patient flow and timely surgical cases
• Support clinical staff in delivering evidence-based, high-quality surgical care
• Monitor adherence to safety protocols, infection prevention, and regulatory standards
• Promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
• Foster positive relationships with physicians and interdisciplinary teams
• Lead staff development through coaching, education, and performance feedback
• Respond to patient and physician feedback to improve satisfaction and outcomes
• Manage surgical equipment usage and advocate for necessary resource needs
• Ensure proper handling of expensive OR instruments and supplies
• Support operating room scheduling and coordination of resources

Requirements

Qualifications Required:

• Active RN license (state or compact)
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• Basic Life Support (BLS) – required within 30 days of start date
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – required within 30 days of start date
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – required within 30 days of start date
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing – required within 3 years of hire
  
  

Preferred Experience

• Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience in Surgical Services (OR, CVOR, PACU, Pre-Op, PAT, or Endoscopy)
• At least 2 years of leadership experience as a Charge Nurse, Clinical Coordinator, or Nursing Supervisor in an acute care setting
• Strong knowledge of perioperative workflows, case management, and surgical protocols
• Excellent organizational, communication, and critical thinking skills
