Responsible for managing several aspects of inventory accounting including: account reconciliations, perpetual inventory detail maintenance, explanations for losses and scrap and monitoring internal control processes and procedures. Job Description
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Financial Support for Plant Manger
- Forecasting and tracking monthly spending and labor efficiencies.
- Monthly reporting of actual performance.
- Coordinating and controlling spending, managing to budgets and forecasts.
- Coordinating the preparation and reporting of Objectives, Goals, Strategies and Plans (OGSP) for the plant.
- Manage the basic control framework of plant financial control processes including SOX and GAAP.
- Inventory Control Reconciliation and Analysis:
- Review and support Warehouse and Inventory Control teams with cycle count and month-end physical inventory count processes and count accuracy.
- Reconcile inventory accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Conduct regular analysis of inventory transactions and trends, particularly inventory adjustments associated with regular physical counts and cycle counts.
- Deep analysis and reporting on inventory losses and scrap
- Accounting Month-end Closing:
- Prepare journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations for in-transit inventory and deposits on Inventory.
- Audit Support:
- Assist with internal and external audit requests related to reporting and inventory.
- Ensure documentation meets Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) standards for compliance.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience (5-7 years) as an Inventory Accountant or in a similar role.
- Knowledge of GAAP accounting principles, particularly for accrual accounting, ownership transfer, and cutoff.
- Knowledge of standard costing and cost accounting concepts.
- Experience with SOX requirements for documentation.
- Experience with ERP and warehouse management systems (WMS) and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with accounting or auditing for publicly traded companies is preferred, but not essential.
- CMA designation is preferred, but not essential.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, particularly with warehouse and production management teams.
