To facilitate our continuing growth, we’re currently accepting applications for an Estimator to join our dynamic management team and service our clients throughout New England & New York. This position will be based out of our headquarters office in Essex, CT.
Job Description:
As a part of our Management & Operations Team, the Estimator is responsible for soliciting bid invitations, organizing & prioritizing invitations, analyzing workloads and disbursing to Estimators, performing cost estimates, & preparing proposals. Must thoroughly understand the Estimating & Sales aspect of commercial construction projects and proactively work with Project Managers to monitor and analyze project performance against budget.
Estimating Responsibilities:
· Analyze bid packages, architectural plans and specifications to prepare time, cost, materials and labor estimates.
- Effectively communicate with clients, architects, subcontractors and/or suppliers to prepare estimates for projects.
- Review quotes for accuracy and scope.
- Prepare estimates using OnScreen Take Off software.
- Review proposal solicitations with ownership to prioritize.
- Solicit and obtain bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials; identifying qualified subcontractors & negotiating price.
- Review change orders and inform office staff immediately of any issues and discrepancies.
- Resolve cost discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
- Identify potential profit erosion scenarios and collaborate with management to create prevention strategies.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years experience as an Estimator.
- Minimum 2 years experience in the Architectural Millwork industry.
- Moderate background in general construction preferred but not required.
- Computer software experience required.
- Organized and detail-oriented team player.
- Positive attitude and ability to communicate professionally, verbal and written.
- Motivated, self-starter type individual.
- Flexible and comfortable with short deadlines.
- Ability to balance and maintain multiple projects.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Reliable transportation to work.
