Purvis Industries is a leading distributor of bearing, mechanical power transmission, electrical, fluid power, industrial products, and conveyor systems. We are actively seeking a sales-focused product and application expert to lead our conveyor belting (heavyweight/lightweight) efforts. The conveyor belting sales engineer will work with our field sales personnel to grow our sales in light and heavy weight belting at new and existing customers. They will accomplish this through direct sales calls throughout the assigned Purvis geographical area and via electronic means (Teams, phone, video chat). They will assist with new applications (sizing, specifying, and designing) and existing applications (troubleshooting, repair, or replace). Additionally, they will support our internal engineering design teams to assist in designing and applying conveyor belting (heavyweight/lightweight).
The day-to-day work of the Application Sales Engineer involves meeting with customers and/or team members, providing technical advice and assistance on product selection and sizing, creating proposals, or assisting in proposals with suppliers and team members, providing training to customers and team members, and assisting with product-specific marketing such as eCommerce.
As an Application Sales Engineer, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Directly participate in sales efforts to close orders
Coordinate conveyor belting (heavyweight/lightweight) with various Branches and Regional Managers
Identify target accounts and prospects
Work with the marketing team to produce marketing materials and events promoting unit and package handling.
Provide marketing suggestions for social media posts and other digital content
Utilize AutoCAD, Solidworks, and manufacturer-provided software
Provide advanced-level technical application support via phone, video conference, or in person
Stay current on new products and technologies and educate Customers and Purvis Team Members about these new developments
Determine final disposition of warranty claims and work with suppliers to resolve difficult cases
Produce and present technical training for Customers and Purvis Team Members about conveyor belting (heavyweight/lightweight)products.
Other duties as assigned by Management.
Skills & Abilities
Strong knowledge of conveyor belting (heavyweight/lightweight) principles, and creative problem solving
Strong customer service and communication skills
Strong work ethic and attention to detail
Ability to read and understand technical drawings
Proficiencies: Microsoft Office, Teams
Good driving record
Education & Experience
Prefer a B.S. in Engineering or Mechatronics, or equivalent experience
Five (5) years of conveyor belting (heavyweight/lightweight) work
Background in unit and package handling conveyors and systems a plus
Job Type: Full-time, 8 hour days M-F
Travel: up to 50% domestic
Pay: Commensurate with experience, car provided
