Field Safety Coordinator
The Field Safety Coordinator is responsible for leading the company initiatives in preventing, reducing, and eliminating at risk safety concerns. Manages and conducts safety training and assists with the management of safety policies, and delivery of compliance training and safety in the field. Train workers in safety laws/requirements, hazardous conditions monitoring and safe equipment and vehicle usage compliant with FMCSA and DOT regulations. Assists field leadership with incident investigations and root cause analyses. Prepares and distributes associated reports and stats and recommends training and procedural improvements.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains training & certification files in compliance with OSHA and Environmental regulations (i.e. for various tasks Equipment safety/First Aid CPR/Excavation-Trenching/Confined Space/Hazcom/BBP/Electrical safety, DOT & FMSCA Compliance and reporting)
- Perform Health and Safety site audits and observations when on projects
- Provides Utility Construction safety training and documentation of JSA meetings in the field
- Work with leadership in completing and reviewing incident reports and conducting root cause analyses.
- Assist with data collection associated with near misses; incidents; stop works & safe work observations.
- Assist the EHS Director with the management of the safety and skills training platform, asset management platform analytics and coaching, vehicle maintenance platform and equipment inspection compliance.
- Assists the EHS Director with the development, maintenance, and the coordination of safety programs that align with regulatory compliance for underground construction and DOT compliance.
- Assist with onboarding orientation and training.
- Assists the Corporate office with remote orientations; DOT onboarding, and new hire paperwork processes as requested.
- Assist with DOT safety inspections. Monitors compliance of personnel to comply with all DOT regulations and company policies.
- Assists with training workers in accordance with regulatory and compliance standards requirements, hazardous conditions monitoring, and safe equipment usage.
- Provides feedback to operations managers regarding field personnel and suggestions for continual improvement.
- Provides pertinent information and consults on hazard recognition, risk management and behavioral modification.
- Assist with FMCSA Drug/Alcohol compliance, company policies, and reasonable suspicion training.
- Assists in providing metrics to onsite management teams and corporate-based reporting systems.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience:
Industry Knowledge: Experience in utility construction, general construction, or other safety-related industries is preferred, but not required. We welcome candidates with a background in related fields.
Education: A degree in occupational health, safety, environmental science, or a related technical field is preferred. However, we are open to candidates with equivalent experience, certifications, or a combination of both education and hands-on experience.
Work Experience: Prior experience in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) roles is beneficial, but we also value candidates with transferable skills from safety-focused or compliance-related roles. Relevant experience in safety, hazard analysis, risk assessment, or regulatory compliance will be considered.
Requirements / Experience:
- Valid Driver’s License, Class A CDL preferred.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment screenings.
- Proficient in MS Office skills with demonstrated proficiency with developing and using spreadsheets and databases, knowledge of Google applications.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety management and Environmental regulations.
- Knowledge of FMCSA regulations.
- Ability to work with cross-functional managers and employees at all levels.
- Ability to multi-task and take ownership of assigned projects
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in dealing with all pertinent information.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to analyze and exercise sound judgment when making decisions.
- Ability to work in a diverse team environment with varying opinions, etc.
- Ability to travel and be away from home for extended periods of time, potentially up to 75%.
