Description
Putnam County Hospital is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Medical Laboratory Technician/ Medical Technologist to perform a variety of laboratory testing that provides accurate and timely results to providers. Working as a Generalist, the successful candidate will work in a team setting as well as in an individual setting and must be able to work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Medical Laboratory Technician/Technologist Duties and Responsibilities include:
Performing clinical laboratory testing as a generalist in all departments within the laboratory
Document and record tests results according to established SOPs
Monitor and maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, and records of usage and maintenance
Prepare samples for testing, including performing venipunctures, centrifugation of specimens, pipetting, and other tasks as needed
Maintain laboratory safety standards and ensure quality control of laboratory equipment and processes
Analyze and interpret data from tests and provider reports to providers in an accurate and timely manner
Maintain a clean and organized workstation
Medical Laboratory Technician/Technologist Requirements/Qualifications:
Associate degree in medical laboratory technology or related field
Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and standard operating procedures
Ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail
Excellent organizational skills and ability to work alone and with a team
Knowledge of laboratory computer systems and software (Orchard and CPSI preferred)

Job Requirements: | |
• | Associate degree in Medical Laboratory or Bachelor degree in Medical Laboratory Science/Medical Technology |
• | Can perform venipuncture and capillary incision |
• | Fluent in written and spoken English |
• | Competent in all general areas of the laboratory |
• | Able to perform basic laboratory mathematics functions |
• | Can utilize problem-solving skills adeptly to the situation |
• | Properly documents quality control failures, instrument errors, etc. |
• | Has familiarity with computer information systems |
• | Can properly assess and evaluate quality control results |
Preferred Skills: | |
• | CPR Certification |
• | Two or more years of experience working in a hospital-based clinical laboratory |
• | Current certification by a nationally recognized accreditation organization, (ASCP, AMT, etc.) |
• | Adept in using Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel |
Salary : $20 - $31
