MRI Technologist
- Responsible for all radiology duties as well as additional MRI related services.
- Operates MRI equipment and accessories in a manner that is not detrimental to that equipment.
- Selects the appropriate parameters for the exams ordered.
- Recognizes the appropriate scanning techniques as requested by the radiologist in regard to the needs of the patient and their disease/traumatic processes.
- Has the ability to evaluate images for technical quality, anatomy content and provide a hardcopy for interpretation.
- Understand the procedure for archival of images.
- Performs all scheduled exams when scheduled in MRI modality.
- Responsible for room set up and room clean up.
- Responsible for restocking supplies as needed.
- Knowledgeable in contrast administration as it pertains to magnetic resonance.
- Responsible for monitoring all safety areas in regard to Magnetic resonance imaging.
- Ability to troubleshoot image artifact for technical or operator error.
- Continually advances knowledge base as MR technology advances through attending seminars or reading professional journals.
- Positions patients and RF coils appropriately to demonstrate patient anatomy.
- May be assigned to participate in ongoing quality assurance.
- Respects patient confidentiality at all times.
- Able to provide patient education in regard MR studies.
- Maintains daily log and record keeping. Reports any equipment malfunction immediately for timely repair and decreased downtime.
- Practices aseptic technique as necessary.
- Provides practical instruction for students and other health care professionals.
- Maintains and observes standard precautions.
- Researches, develops and implements improved scanning techniques.
Qualifications
- High School Graduate or equivalent.
- Current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology. (ARRT)
- Current certification with the Indiana State Board of Health. (ISBH)
- Graduate of an accredited program of Radiologic Sciences. AMA and JRCERT accreditation.
- Have proven to be proficient in all areas of radiography and have the ability to work independently of others while using sound judgment.
- Will have completed some course of study in the field of Magnetic Resonance Imaging. (i.e. Home study courses)
- Will have completed an accredited MRI program or have on the job training for a period of 3 months under the supervision of a competent MRI technologist.
- Registered as an MRI technologist or registry eligible.
