What are the responsibilities and job description for the Online Debate Coach position at Putnam Science Academy?
Putnam Science Academy’s online partner school is looking to add more instructors. We primarily run weekly classes and camps in the following formats:
• British Parliamentary
• WSDC
• Public Speaking
• Public Forum
Our main focus in this hiring round are for instructors with any of the following experience:
• Experience as a competitor or coach at WIDPSC
• Experience as a debater or coach at the World Schools Debate Championships
• Experience as a debater or coach at ToC
• Experience as a debater or coach at NSDA or DLC
Key details:
• Hours are flexible and most instructors teach 2 to 4 hours per week
• We need instructors who can teach online during EST morning/BEI evening on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays
• We need instructors who can teach offline during summer holiday in China, Most instructors teach 2 – 4 weeks, 6hours per day from Mon to Sat per week.
• There is typically a phase in period where qualified instructors will substitute a few classes as part of their assessment. Instructors who do well in these assessments will be offered regular recurring class work.
Other details:
• Most classes have detailed curriculum that instructors use (the exceptions being high level classes that are more bespoke)
• Other than occasional requests for additional details on how a student is doing, we endeavor to keep instructors out of parent communications and administrative duties as much as possible to respect their time

o Debate formats you are familiar with and the extent of your experience
o Any experience teaching debate or public speaking (volunteer work within clubs or communities absolutely qualifies here)
o Any other teaching experience you have or other work with students grades 1 to 12.
