Sander/Packer (Off-shift)

Job Summary This position is one of the work cells in our knife line production. The sanding duties include smoothing the surface of milled metal knives using sandpaper and a sanding machine while wearing the provided PPE. The packing duties include dipping finished knives into a rust-resistant coating, packing the knives based on type, into boxes, and labeling the packed boxes appropriately while wearing the provided PPE. The job location is at 352 Cane Creek Road, Fletcher, NC 28732, and is an onsite-only position. This position can not be performed remotely. This position's hours are not a typical 2nd shift or 3rd shift, it is a late afternoon / evening / early morning position, hence we call it an Off-shift. Responsibilities and Duties Check machinery daily for any safety issues Wear appropriate PPE to perform the task Operate Industrial Sanding Machine Responsible for ensuring efficient production that conforms to quality standards Assemble packing boxes / pallets Pack parts in sub-boxes and label them with appropriate information Pack sub-boxes into master boxes attached to the crate and label them with appropriate information Report daily labor into the ERP system Responsible for general housekeeping in your work area Moving material throughout the production process with a forklift Qualifications and Education Requirements High school diploma or equivalent Excellent attention to detail Mechanical aptitude Able to work independently Dependable with proven attendance records . Training Training will be conducted on days until trained. Hours are 6 : 30 AM - 5 : 00 PM Monday-Thursday Once trained and the employee is moved to the Off-shift Monday afternoon / evening-Friday morning a $1 per hour shift differential will be added to base pay. Employees are eligible to enroll in 401K after 1 year and 1000 hours [within that year] of employment. Putsch matches employee contribution dollar for dollar up to 5% of employee earnings. Additional AFLAC policies are available for purchase by employees. Full-time employees will become eligible to accrue PTO on the first day of employment. An employee is eligible to start using accrued PTO on the 91st day following the employee's date of hire. 80 PTO hours will be accrued pro-rated for the first full consecutive calendar year of employment, then on January 1 following the one-year tenure, 80 hours of PTO will be front-loaded into their PTO bank. An annual reimbursement up to $100 for the purchase of safety shoes and / or prescription safety glasses. 8-10 paid holidays depending on shift schedule.
