Responsibilities
Job Purpose
The Bar Manager is responsible for managing all business aspects of the bar; including staffing, training, managing inventory, ordering, execution of operations and customer service. This position is expected to perform as a senior member of the management team, on the floor and in partnership with other departments and staff. This includes showing leadership within their own department, and the ability to effectively communicate with others while supporting professional relationships within the venue.
In addition, the Bar Manager is expected to be present on the floor during operating hours. While on the floor, the Bar Manager represents every aspect of Puttery and should work with all other Team Members to ensure guests receive exceptional service in and out of not only at the bar but throughout the venue.
Responsibilities:
- Overseeing daily Bar operations and deliver an outstanding experience for Puttery guests which they will immediately recognize as unique and satisfying
- Manage all Bar staff, including Bartenders and Barbacks
- Provide leadership and mentorship to all Puttery Team Members
- Drive and maintain company culture.
- Plan and direct bar and beverage preparation and Ba rStaff activities
- Estimate beverage requirements and Liquor, Beer & Wine (LBW)/labor costs
- Supervise Bar team activities, delegating tasks and identifying accountability
- Recruit, hire, train, motivate and manage the Bar team
- Reward and express genuine appreciation of your team’s dedication, hard work and time
- Resolve issues and complaints related to staff and the Bar
- Ensure all beverage/LBW products served meet or exceed our high standards
- Perform administrative duties, like time and payroll, and inventory
- Promote company-sponsored training and growth initiatives
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with a variety of people, including vendors, other departments, staff, and senior management
- Create and maintain a climate of understanding and respect for all Puttery Team Members
- Perform other duties as assigned and requested by General Manager
Qualifications
Qualifications and Skills
- Work extended hours as required and/or during busy periods based on business needs.
- Operate a personal computer and use required applications.
- Work with minimal supervision.
- Read and comprehend complex printed data/information and reports.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Support the onboarding and training of new Team Members.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, promoting excellent Puttery hospitality.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Supervising all bar and beverage preparation and ensuring strict adherence to food & beverage hygiene regulations.
- Recognizing, maintaining, and improving safety and sanitation in FOH.
- Excellent time management and customer service skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
- 3-5 years’ experience managing a bar within a high volume environment
- Demonstrated understanding and training of various bartending techniques, methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
- Maintaining a Cicerone Certification is preferred
- Up to date with current trends and the industry’s best practices.
- Accuracy and speed in handling “in-the-moment” conditions and providing solutions with hospitality and guest experience as a priority.
- Outstanding verbal and written skills, and experience working with staff on all levels.
- Prior experience managing major projects and supervising day-to-day activities of workers.
- Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently across levels within the organization.
- Working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, inventory management software, Point of Sale systems)
Education
- 4-Year Bachelor's degree in Business, or relevant field is a plus
