What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanical Assembler position at Putzmeister America, Inc.?
Summary: Assembles small and medium-sized precision units or subassemblies involving a large number of parts; also, larger units involving assembly or reassembly require less precision. Assembles parts noted in one or more of the following ways: the Bill of Material, electrical or hydraulic schematics, drawings, or photo stories.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Assembles and reassembles pre-fitted parts based on standardized requirements using a variety of hand tools, measurement devices and power tools.
Fits and aligns parts to ensure free action of movable parts within operating requirements, including pumps, booms and belts.
Installs some or all of the following components: electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical, meeting the Putzmeister standard of high quality.
Performs one or more of the following: minor drilling, welding, and torching jobs.
Completes documentation checklists.
Ensures that all the components of the machine agree with the BOM.
Required
Assists other Assemblers and Lead People as required.
Informs Supervisor and Lead People of problems including shortages and material or vendor quality issues.
Tests installed components to ensure they are working properly and advises the Supervisor or Team Leader of any discrepancies.
Assembles conveyor assembly and mounting after the truck comes back from the painting department, followed by the final stability test.
Ensures that the work area is orderly, clean and safe on a daily basis.
Maintains Putzmeister America’s high standards of quality.
Performs other duties as assigned or directed.
Qualifications
Demonstrated mechanical assembly skills.
High standard of attention to detail.
Able to read and understand some or all of the following: hydraulic drawings, electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and photo stories.
Experienced in the use of hydraulic presses and/or overhead cranes.
Must supply personal set of basic tools.
Education/Certification/Training
High school diploma or GED.
Previous experience in manufacturing helpful.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials.
The noise level in this environment is frequently loud.
Ability to continuously stand or walk; and the ability to bend, squat, climb stairs and lift frequently.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
