What are the responsibilities and job description for the Automotive Prepper - 2nd Shift position at Putzmeister?
Summary: This position is for the 2nd shift. The working hours are from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM. Prepares all assemblies, sub-assemblies, and parts for the painting process in accordance to customer specifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs surface prep operations, including grinding, sanding, chipping, and filling, to achieve a proper surface for finishing.
Masks pumps and trucks as needed.
Sets up jobs for the painters according to the paint specification sheets.
Inspects parts and machines for their conformance to prep standards before painting.
Prepares documentation and checklists accurately.
Informs Supervisor or Lead Person of problems encountered, such as material and quality issues.
Drives the truck in and out of the wash bay.
Looks over the vehicle for overall correctness such as doors fitting, all accessories safely attached, etc.
Removes, labels, and stores all appropriate truck/machine and pump parts as required before beginning surface prep operations.
Cleans all areas to be painted for proper paint adhesion. (Chemical compounds are typically used in this process).
Ensures that the work area is orderly, clean, and safe on a daily basis.
Maintains Putzmeister America’s high standards of quality.
Performs other duties as assigned or directed.
Qualifications:
Ability to assemble and disassemble heavy equipment.
Education/Certification/Training:
High school diploma or GED.
Six (6) months to one (1) year of experience preferred.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials.
The noise level in this environment is frequently loud.
Ability to continuously stand or walk; and the ability to bend, squat, climb stairs and lift frequently.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds
