POSITION SUMMARY:
Puyallup Tribal Enterprises (PTE) is looking for a Container Manufacturing Shop Supervisor to support our growing organization. The Shop Supervisor is responsible for the general manufacturing, fabrication, painting, assembly, and other aspects of container modifications. Products include industrial containers, manufactured homes, shops, and other related products. The shop supervisor is a hands-on working position who will also support other aspects of the business including scheduling, estimating, staffing and training. The Shop Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the work is completed within specifications, on time and on budget.
In addition, this position helps develop and maintain SOPs, business reporting systems, and employee work processes for this department. It is vital that they lead by example to promote a culture of safety, as well as help to grow our brand and build a reputation of excellence in our industry.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Excellent attendance
- Ensure that schedules and budgets are met
- Interpret customer specifications and requirements and build accordingly
- Act as the liaison between project managers and manufacturing
- Engage with customers as necessary to collaborate on manufacturing solutions and design options
- Support scheduling and estimating to ensure accuracy of quotes and schedules
- Providing hands on welding, general carpentry, general assembly, painting and other fabrication
- Ensure necessary supplies are on hand and equipment is in excellent operating condition
- Support staffing needs, train and direct staff to meet production requirements
- Identify opportunities for improvements, identify potential areas of risk, and share information with key stakeholders to maximize results throughout PTE
- Use all company resources efficiently to promote maximum financial results for PTE; maintain PTE equipment and assets to maximize return on investment
- Establish and maintain effective business relationships and with all employees, vendors, business partners, government/regulatory entities, and communities in which we operate
- Strictly follow workplace safety measures; safeguard the welfare of all employees, guests, visitors, and business partners at all times; promptly report workplace risks, incidents, injuries, and near misses
- Always maintain strict confidentiality regarding all sensitive and proprietary business information and safeguard PTE assets
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid WA drivers license and good driving record
- WABO or AWS Level 6 certificate or equivalent
- 3 years of similar work experience and supervisory experience
- 3 years of welding and fabrication experience
- Experience with mechanical lifts/forklifts
- Strong troubleshooting skills and high level of mechanical aptitude
- Ability to utilize a comprehensive variety of hand/power tools and equipment
- Ability to train and qualify employees
- Strong basic math skills
- Ability to understand basic technical requirements and blueprints
- Ability to problem solve, multi-task, and manage competing priorities to meet deadlines
- Must be practical and results oriented
- Ability to work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong time management skills and ability to work independently
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English
- Basic PC and MS Office proficiency
- Ability to transport self over multi acre work site of varied terrain, climb in/out of equipment, and perform all physical elements of job tasks
- Relates well to all people, diplomatic /gracious; builds good relationships without compromising results
- Culturally sensitive and works well with the full diversity of our company and community
- Uncompromising integrity and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Ability to occasionally work non-standard hours to accommodate business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to pass Background Check
