Position Summary :
Under the general direction of the Deputy Administrator, this position provides leadership and guidance to a diverse team of Grants & Development staff. This position provides oversight for the research, planning, writing, editing and proofreading of federal, state, county, private and foundation grant applications, within strict deadlines and with frequent collaboration with Tribal directors, program managers and support staff. This position maintains regular communication with the Administrative Team, especially the Deputy Administrator, for current, ongoing and future projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position directly supervises all Grants & Development staff. It carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Puyallup Tribe of Indians personnel policies and procedures, and all applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, coaching and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding, recognizing and counseling employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and / or Experience
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from 4-year college or university in a related field and four years demonstrated experience and / or training overseeing, developing and managing grant applications; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Intermediate to advanced skills in word-processing and spreadsheets (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, etc.) is required.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and
