Position Summary:
First Step of Sarasota is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Clinical Therapist to join our team. As a Clinical Therapist you will help provide direction and support for our patients. You will be responsible for restoring or developing the client’s ability to function substance-free by assessing the client’s situation, setting goals, and providing required services that integrate and promote our mission.
Responsibilities:
- Determines nature of client’s situation by interviewing the client, assessing medical, psychological, emotional, and social information
- Establishes course of action by exploring options and setting goals with client
- Obtains assistance for client by referring them to community resources
- Fosters client’s action or adjustment by interpreting attitudes and patterns of behavior
- Maintains client records by documenting client’s situation and client’s own actions
- Accurately completes required paperwork procedures
- Maintains operations by following policies, procedures, rules and regulations; participating in quality reviews; reporting needed changes
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
- Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping client information confidential, following established confidentiality policy and procedures, and maintaining professional boundaries with clients
- Maintains inter- and intra-departmental workflow by fostering a spirit of cooperation
Education & Experience:
- Master’s degree in human services field required
- LMHC/LCSW preferred
- Primary substance abuse and/or mental health training
- Experience in individual and group therapy, and mental health training with children and adolescents
- Ability to diagnose using the DSM manual
