What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler - 1st shift position at PVS Chemicals, Inc.?
- The pay rate range for this role is $24.00 to $26.00 per hour and will be based on experience.
Responsibilities:

Primary Job Function:
Individuals assigned to this position will be responsible for safely, efficiently, and accurately moving material throughout the warehouses.
Primary Job Duties Include:
- Unload pre-packaged pallets of various chemicals and other goods from our suppliers,
- Loading ours and our customer’s trucks by hand, fork truck, or pallet jack,
- Verify that all incoming and outgoing loads match the paperwork,
- Prepare / check shipping documents,
- Assist with bulk chemical unloading from tanker into chemical bulk storage tanks,
- Bulk chemical dispensing from tanker or chemical bulk storage tank into totes, drums, carboys, pails, and jugs,
- Closing containers per DOT specifications,
- Inspect all incoming and outgoing products for damage / leakage,
- Inspect the chemical bulk storage tanks and piping for leaks and spills each operating day,
- Fill in as needed in any area at the facility,
- Blending chemicals to specific customer orders,
- Washing totes and drums,
- Maintaining area housekeeping (sweeping, garbage removal, bathroom maintenance, etc.),
- Ensure access to aisles, fire extinguishers, exits, electrical panels, and emergency eyewash / showers are not blocked,
- Initiate service reports,
- Notify inventory control and purchasing when product is missing in a delivery,
- Perform and document daily fork truck inspections,
- Inspect area safety / eyewash showers weekly,
- Respond to emergencies as specified in the facility’s Emergency Action Plan,
- Labeling and marking all containers as per the Hazard Communication Standard,
- Participate in limited spill response,
- Assist with organizing and maintaining existing inventory,
- Alert management when supply is low,
- Contribute to the overall success of the team.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:
All employees of PVS are expected to work safely, follow all procedures, and wear the proper PPE at all times on the job. PPE has been determined by the Safety Data Sheets, manufacturer recommendations, workplace hazard analysis and from personal exposure monitoring data. This PPE is provided by PVS and includes:
- Steel-toe work shoes,
- Safety glasses,
- Sleeved shirts,
- High visibility clothing.
