This position is responsible for designing and developing sprinkler systems to prevent or aid fires. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Distributes and tracks projects requiring design work for construction, other day work projects, and is the liaison between engineering/design department and estimating and installation personnel.
- Review customer source control drawings, specifications control drawings and other applicable specifications to determine requirements and/or feasibility of project.
- Interacts with vendors and customers on engineering design issues. Must be able to work with customers to define and document requirements, address technical concerns, and provide project status.
- Ensures that less experienced designers are trained so that design studies, tolerance stacks-ups, layouts, drawings, calculations, supporting documentation, etc., are properly completed on 2-D / 3-D CAD, AutoSPRINK, or other computer applications.
- Address limitations of technologies and materials involved in the CAD process.
- Make revisions to models as requested.
- Run simulations and stress-tests on all 3D models before prototyping.
- Keep up to date on all modern advancements in material and software technologies.
- Pursue ongoing education in the field.
- Utilize large databases of material property information to best select materials for modeling.
- Design of plumbing drawings, as-built drawings, site water supplies design and testing.
- Re-create new (MEP) and structural drawings under existing conditions for design coordination.
- Read and interpret architectural, structural and MEP drawings.
- Provide accurate electrical schematics per client conditions and analyze and track technical specifications including dimensions, arrangements, and installation procedures.
- Analyze and verify all hydraulic calculations to ensure adequate water delivery in the event of a fire condition emergency.
- Perform other duties assigned by management.
- Minimum 2-year degree in related field (preferred).
- Bachelor's or Certifications (preferred).
- At least 2 years of experience utilizing CAD software.
- Adheres to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and is occasionally required to lift and/or move heavy objects.
